happens to me quite frequently, where all of a sudden I will snap out of

times??

First, it is hard to believe, but this will pass. Your brain

will be able to function normally again. And life will not be as

confusing as it is now.

You've answered ur own question, the reason for the ''dissociative
Viewed 6147 times
states'' is due the the stress & depression. The mind shuts down. The
brain thinks it is doing you a favor but then when you realise what just
happened you become even more agitated & upset. Stress & depression may
shut down the hippocampus or when neurons begin misfiring, the brain shuts
down.

I hope you have seen someone about the depression, sometimes just
discussing things eases the problem (''dissociative states''). Chemical
reactions control the brain, depression & stress can unbalance these
reactions. A doctor may be able to help by prescribing appropriate
medication if necessary. It can sometimes be trial & error so even if you
are on prescription medicine at the moment it may be best to see ur doctor
again. Sometimes, like Paul A has explained, you may find a combination of
medications helps.

I've found keeping a diary has helped. I feel so out of control &
confused whenever these lapses in time occur, like ur mind has gone blank
& you wonder what you were doing or how you arrived where you are etc.
the diary gives voice to my concerns & all those confusing mixed up things
that happen during the day are given order.

Share as much of ur experiences as possible & as mentioned in the first
sentence, rest assured it will pass.

Hi Pink, I would guess what you're experiencing is related to
beast
your stress and depression.

Since I've been on the antidepressants and gotten counseling, I don't do
it nearly as often. It is normal to have that happen occasionally, but
not often.

Best of luck to you :-)
Paul.

I think it usually happens because its a way of shutting yourself off from

reality. Often when you're depressed/stressed you tend to switch on ur

emotional mode which causes you to become very ''out of it''. This usually
aggravates the depression even more because it gives you more reasons to
hate yourself & to think of yourself as strange.

However, what you must understand is that things like this happen to lots
of people, especially those of us who are a bit more emotional than is
healthy (like myself). You are not alone, if that is any consolation.
