Washing machine clogging drains despite filter

We are renters and we were told that we could install a washing machine in
Gup
the basement, where it drains into a large sink. We use lint filters over

the washer hose, as well as sink strainers in the drains of the sink. We

However, every few months, the drain in the main sink clogs and

water goes all over the floor. The landlady has had to call a plumber to
snake the drains a few times. She seems to think we're being careless
about cleaning out the drains (and she seems to think we're putting food
down the drains, despite two strainers on our kitchen sink).
/>Is there ANYTHING we can do to keep the drain flowing better? Should we
put vinegar and baking soda down the drain (we are told not to use Drano),
or will that just be useless? We have tried adding old pantyhose to the
hose filter but it just ends up impeding the flow of water from the hose.

Also, has this happened to anyone else?

I will guess the snaking isn't really clearing the drain out

particles add to the drain clog problem. It is good you're using the
strainers on the kitchen sink - just put all food waste in the trash if
you aren't already.

Finally, if this is happening repeatedly & you're renting, I'd recommend
getting a strong (not Drano) drain cleaner chemical & use it monthly as a
preventive measure. These usually aren't so good at clearing major clogs,
but they can help prevent clogs if you use them ahead of time in a drain
that is known to be susceptible.
